Who should investigate it first?
Consider the Cento when a cat that likes enclosed resting places needs two elevated basket positions and a lower retreat. This is an editorial fit assessment, not a stability test. Mau describes real branch trunks, jute wrapping, woven baskets, a cave and removable cushions. It states a maximum of 23 lb per cat, a 23-inch base and a height of 45.5 inches. [4]
The Amazon white listing uses model AMZ-106-WHT and dimensions 23.5 × 18 × 46 inches. These figures are not identical to the manufacturer’s text. They do not settle the widest basket overhang or usable internal sleeping area. Check the current drawing and variant rather than treating the smaller number as guaranteed clearance. [15]
Installation and wear deserve part of the budget
Mau’s securing guide calls for stable placement and suitable anti-tip hardware; it warns that dynamic forces from large or active pets, children or dogs can cause tip-over. Follow the current model instructions and wall requirements. Adhesive-only fasteners are not a substitute for suitable wall hardware. [5]
Keep the maintenance job practical: inspect fixings, woven edges and hanging components; stop use when looseness or damage appears. The safety guide calls for monthly inspection, more often in multi-pet homes. [5]
Cleaning and replacement trade-offs
The manufacturer lists replacement wear parts and gives specific care directions: removable basket cushions can be washed without detergent on the coldest setting; other surfaces have separate cleaning instructions. Read them before washing the whole piece. [4]
A replaceable basket or cushion may reduce the need to replace the entire tree, but availability and total cost remain purchasing checks. Natural branches vary; do not assume every delivered tree has the exact silhouette of a photograph.
When to choose something else
Skip this candidate if the cat exceeds the published limit, the resting basket is too small, or the full structure blocks a door or escape route. A senior cat that no longer jumps comfortably may need easier access and veterinary assessment, rather than a higher tree.
